Owners
Karasjok Camping AS is owned by Magnus and Silje Halonen. Magnus has been in charge since 1989.
The campsite was founded in 1963 by John Guttorm, father in law and grandfather, with three cabins on the lower level.
The campsite
The site contains of cabins, a sanitary building and tent pitces on the lower levels. On the upper level you will fing the reception as well as cottages, a sanitary building, the TV room, and a green area for light campers and for campers, caravans and mobilehomes.
We have 22 cabins and cottages and three rooms for backpackers, with a total of around 90 beds. The green area for campes can hold up to 50 campers and caravans/mobilhomes.
Wireless internet (WLAN)
We have wireless Internet-connection which covers some of the site. We recommend you to contact the reception to buy your personal username and password, and bring your laptop to the TV-house.
Activities and sights
The site is located in the beautiful nature of northern Norway, with the big river Karasjohka within sight and walking distance. Karasjok Camping is close to the town center (1 km) with sights, cultural activities, shopping and dining, and the sami parliament-building is one of the closest neighbours. The camping is still far enough outside town center to be a quiet place for relaxation.
We make a fire in our ”lavvu”, the sami tent, every night during the summer season. There our guests can gather around the fire for chatting, grilling, singing or just enjoy staring at the fire.
During winter the lavvu is taken down, so we make a fire in our barbeque hut on request instead. The barbeque-hut is also available in summer for up to 12 persons. There is a small fee for the barbeque-hut.
Our sauna is popular. It has a view of town, and in winter you can stargaze on clear days, and sometimes you can even see the northern lights!
Karasjok Camping AS offers accomodation for both light campers and for people in need of comfort of different levels. Being social with the owners and meeting other guest in our ”lavvu” is a part of the stay.
